Every Saturday UnityPoint Health – Des Moines volunteers and staff will be on-hand sharing safety tips, healthy recipes and fun activities for the whole family. Rise & Shine Market Deals

Text “Market” to 46986 to receive coupons and special offers from Market vendors each week! Subscribers are sent a text each Friday afternoon during Market season with the deals for the next day. Meals from the Market

Meals From the Market sponsored by Great Western Bank offers Market vendors and patrons an opportunity to give back to the community by providing fresh food to the homeless and hungry in central Iowa. The program is a collaborative effort between Great Western Bank, Des Moines Area Religious Council (DMARC) and the Downtown Farmers’ Market

The Meals From the Market program provides thousands of pounds of fresh food to the Des Moines Area Religious Council (DMARC) emergency pantries where it is distributed throughout Greater Des Moines. Market vendors, patrons and the entire community are invited to help with this effort. Acceptable food donations include: fresh produce, baked goods and non-perishable food. Food donations of any size are appreciated!Because the donation is going to DMARC, it is tax deductible and receipts will be available upon request.
Dedicated volunteers will be available to accept food donations every Saturday during Market hours. Drop your donation at thebright yellow Meals From The Market tent located on the corner of Second Street and Court Avenue.

Bike Valet

Ride your bike and park free in the safe and secure bike valet staffed by the Des Moines Bicycle Collective. Located inside the Terrus Real Estate Group parking ramp at the southeast corner of Second and Court Avenue, staff is available to pump tires or change a flat. WAGON LENDING PROGRAM

Planning a heavy purchase? The Market offers free wagon lending program to help you tote heavy pumpkins, artwork or other cumbersome goodies to your vehicle! Wagon availability is limited and are available first-come, first-served. Stop by the Information Booth at Third Street and Court Avenue for details or to rent a wagon.

Community Corner

Stop by the Community Corner on Third Street, south of Court Avenue, to find out what is going on in the Greater Des Moines community. Local charitable organizations — welcomed as Saturday Salutes at The Market — promote learning opportunities, Downtown events and community resources each Saturday.

Grape Vine Tunes

Come hear it through the grapevine! Experience local musicians, ages 5-18, showcasing their talent near 4th and Walnut Streets. Onsite at The Market May 13, July 8 and September 9.

Entertainment

Live music has become a tradition at the Downtown Farmers’ Market and this season is packed full of great entertainment with everything from an eclectic mix of local musicians, jugglers, salsa dancers, belly dancers and more. Grapevine Tunes allows young artists (ages 5 – 18) to showcase their musical talents as a soloists or small ensemble group on the corner of Fourth and Walnut streets.

Snapping photos and videos to share on social media at The Market is strongly encouraged! And feel free to follow us! The Market has official Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts (@DTFarmersMarket) and uses the official hashtag #DTFM. For a fun, interactive photo opp, stop by the UnityPoint Health – Des Moines booth at the corner of Third Street and Court Avenue and snag a selfie!

EBT (Electronic Benefits Transfer)

Yes-Food-EBT-logoIowans can use their EBT (Electronic Benefits Transfer) card to purchase qualified food at the Downtown Farmers’ Markets.  With the help of the Wireless EBT Project, more Iowans have increased access to locally grown farm fresh food at the Downtown Farmers’ Market. This program provides access to the freshest food Iowa has to offer and enables qualified Downtown Farmers’ Market vendors to accept the EBT food assistance cards (SNAP), as well as MasterCard, Visa and Discover, by using a wireless point-of-sales machine.  Watch the EBT video provided by Iowa Department of Human Services to learn more.
